The grail quest
The beginning of Arthur’s reign began the Quest for the Holy Grail. This is
the cup that Christ used in the Last Supper. Gawain told Arthur that the Merlin
said that every knight must help with the Grail Quest. Found floating on the
river by Camelot, was a sword in a stone. Sir Lancelot made his son, Galahas, a
knight. Galahad was introduced in Arthur’s court by Naciens, a holy hermit.
Galahad took his place in the siege of Perilous. This is a seat only occupied
by saintly knights. Galahad could remove the sword and he also defeated many
knights. Every seat was filled at the Feast of Pentecost. The Grail appeared
and quickly vanished. All the knights vowed to find the Grail. Arthur was very
disturbed to think that this was the last time that all his knights would
gather. Many would die on the Quest. He knew that end of Logres was here. Sir
Galahad won a shield from a White Knight. The shield had a cross of blood on
it. He also won a blessing. Galahad was taken aboard the Enchanted Ship in
which Joseph of Arimathea was taken to England. Percivale defeated three which
allowed him board. Sir Bors rescued a lady from a rapist which allowed him to
board. Sir Launchencelot was allowed on after confessing his love for Queen
Guinevere and did penance for it. Diddrane, the sister of Percivale and a nun,
led each of them on the ship. The ship sailed to a bay where they got off. They
were attacked by a group of knights. A knight called off the attackers. The
Golden knight needed a virgin to give blood to his wife to save her from death.
Dindrane offered to give blood but she died from doing so. The castle was
burned because of the evil it held. Sir Bors and Galahad rode on toward the
Waste Land. sir Percivale and Launcelot went in search of more adventures. Sir
Gawain and Ector crossed paths and continued together. They came upon a
deserted chapel. A mysterious voice warned Sir Ector to give up the Quest. So
he did. However Sir Gawain rode on and encountered Sir Launcelot. They came to
the Castle of Cabonek. There they were greeted by King Pellas. A clap of
thunder announced the Grail precession. There were three maidens carrying the
holy relics. Gawain was led to see the Grail. They had lifted the curse but the
completion of the quest was for others. Sir Percivale came up behind Sir Bors
and Galahad on their journey to Carbonek. When they arrived at the castle they
were greeted by Pelles and Naciens. They are bread and water. Again a clap of
thunder brought forth three maidens. Sir Galahad drank from the Holy Grail
which relieved Naciens and healed King Pelles. The Grail Maiden was
Blanchfleur. Percivale married Blanchefleur after piercing a mystic sword
together. When Pelles died Percivale became the King of Carbonek. After Sir
Galahad was transfigured before the court and died, the mission was
accomplished. The Grail Quest was complete and the glory of Logres was
fulfilled.
